Gamtoos Mouth Resort is situated at the mouth of the Gamtoos River approximately 35 km from Jeffreys Bay. It is a stone’s throw from Port Elizabeth with easy access from the N2 highway to the R102. It offers a unique coastal lifestyle with access to the lagoon, river and sea.

The resort, comprising log style homes, was laid out with care, offering flowing spaces to accommodate nature’s creatures and flora.

HISTORY

Gamtoos Mouth Resort was developed by Gamtoos Mouth Investments owned by prominent Port Elizabeth family, The Rushmeres. Their vision was to develop the then historical cottages and caravan park into an upmarket coastal lifestyle village with an eco- friendly ethos. Established in 1998, almost all of the 449 erven have been sold.

ESCAPE THE CITY

Over the years, many beautiful houses have been built. Architecturally designed homes blend into the dense coastal dune belt and the natural rustic surroundings. Some houses enjoy breathtaking views over the sea while others have valley and bush views. The green roofs ensure that the houses merge with the natural surroundings. Also, each plot must keep part of its natural indigenous vegetation. The Architectural Committee approves plans submitted to the local Kouga Municipality.

ACTIVITIES

The Resort is set in 356 hectares. Many green belts and open spaces are for the exclusive use of the residents. These include a boating slipway on the Gamtoos River offering launching, braai and ablution facilities. A play-park, unspoiled beaches, lagoon, coastal wetlands, saltwater lakes and hiking trails are all for the use of the residents.

This gated community ensures a secure, child-friendly environment with canoeing, windsurfing, angling, bird watching, swimming, boating and more on offer for the residents to enjoy.

Travel up the fertile Gamtoos valley past Loerie, Hankey and Patensie to the Baviaanskloof, the biggest wilderness area in South Africa. Many day trips can be taken to enjoy the beautiful area we live in. Addo Elephant Park is only 90km away.

Activities in the area:
Skydiving, horse riding, model planes and Arts and crafts.

Bay West Shopping mall on the outskirts of PE and the Fountains Mall in Jeffreys Bay are both within easy reach of the Resort.
